BeatEmUp development logs


In this blog, I will be talking about my game "BeatEmUp" and the changes it has gone through this 4 weeks.

Week 1:

The first week of the build I started off with a Shoot em' Up stencyl template and changing the bullet angle from top to left right, as well as changing the character's animation into a guy that punches. Lastly an enemy which can't hurt the player for the time being. 

Week 2:

In this week we were required to make A/B version of our game and lets them be playtested. After the playtest, I recorded the feedback and a video. I also added a health bar and UI for the player. Not only that, I also added the background and tileset for the game. In build A, I implemented the health bar and in build B I had removed the health bar.

Week 3:

For this week, I made the enemies be able to move to the player aswell as attack the player. This now give the player a reason to start attacking the enemy in order to survive. However I got to wondering how fast the movement and attacks of the enemy should be seeing as the game is quite simple. So for my Build A and B I made the movement and the attacks of the enemy faster and slower giving the player time to react and see which Build would be more balanced.

Week 4:

For this week, I just added in all the remaining sound asset that the game would need.
